Your Friendly Spiderman visits Kent Ridge

Spiderman spotted at Kent Ridge Park!

Has the evil Green Goblin relocated its base to Singapore? There rumours that the Goblin was hurt during a battle with our friendly neighbourhood Spidey and has escaped to Kent Ridge Park to recuperate.

Credible sources claim that the Osbourne family holds a significant amount of shares in the Biopolis and Fusionoplis. Fresh links between the Green Goblin and the Osbourne family have been brought back onto the front pages of the Daily Bugle once more, resulting in unease among the Singapoeans. Said the director of the Daily Bugle last night, J J Jameson, "The amount of riches that the Osbourne family has invested in Singapore's biotechnology... is a front. We have proofs that the Green Goblin is the main benefactor from the cancer research... What?... Spiderman in Singapore? OF COURSE HE IS! Don't you know that the Spiderman is in cahoots with the Green Goblin?"

Whatever the truth, Spiderman seems to really be in Singapore at the moment.

Lethal Curry

Masumi Hayashi, 47, has lost her appeal on Tuesday against a death sentence that was handed down in 2002 by a district court and later upheld by a higher court in 2005.

The mother of four was suspected to have added arsenic into curry served at a community festival in 2002. The poisoning caused the death of 4 and hospitalised another 63. Her link with the case was founded on the fact that she was believed to be the only person to have prepared the curry, and the analysis of the arsenic obtained from the poisoning was the same as the arsenic found in her home, which belonged to her husband, a former pest exterminator.

Her case has created a furore among the legislative community in Japan because apparently, she was not proven "beyond reasonable doubt" to be the murderer. According to media reports, she was convicted only based on circumstancial evidence. What made it difficult for the defense team was the amount of media attention created that was against Hayashi from the very beginning.

I'm not sure whether this woman should be guilty but handling death penalties will always be a very sensitive issue. However, I am adamant that unless the accused is really proven guilty beyond any reasonable doubt, he/she should be fairly tried, or given the next highest penalty.

Bing There Done That

Not again. Taiwanese entertainer Yu Bing-Hsian (affectionately known as Da Bing 大炳) was arrested on Friday in Taipei for amphetamine use.

This is already the second time that he's been caught for illegal drug use.
Why can't he just leave those stuff alone?

I learnt from my Pharmacology lectures that there's another compound called Tyramine that simulates the effect of Amphetamines. But that means you have to eat a truckload of aged cheese in order for you to feel high. -sigh- The things people do.

No more mood to blog

Wow. It's been a while.

It's been a great holiday so far. SCAMP ended and I've made a series of videos which I'm quite proud of. Now's the time to finish up all these videos.

These aside, the album is picking up speed right now and all slated for release in November I think.

Tim Tim Tim, Pls study...

Mysteries that I may want to unravel this summer...

  1. Why did we increase our GST from 5% to 7%? Amazingly, we have SO MUCH surplus and the government is now giving money back to us.
  2. How friendly are our buses towards our less privileged friends who have to travel with crutches, or in a wheel-chair?
  3. How can athletes who ingest testosterone illegally be detected if the proteins responsible for adding glucuronide to testosterone is not expressed due to gene deletion?
  4. Should 18-year-olds vote?
  5. Do locals really benefit from the reported 68,400 jobs created in the last quarter? What kind of jobs are these? What's our current mean wage? What's our current median wage?
  6. How do we create environmental awareness and involvement among undergraduates, supposedly to be the group most in touch with latest developments in environmental preservation?
Must remind myself to:
  1. Book tix for The Kransky Sisters @ Esplanade
  2. Book tix for Avenue Q, which starts ticket sales at Sistic on 16 May
  3. Organise a trip to National Museum to visit the exhibition Mozart: A Child Prodigy

An Inspector Calls

Went to support the play which Simone directed. She'd spent so much time and effort on this production and I was happy for her when the play did not disappoint. Yeah, although it was still a students' production, there were still many more good things to discuss about. I especially enjoyed the second half when the unexpected twist had me seated forward as I wait to unravel the mystery with the cast...

I sat among the audience and wonders whether I can act.

Then I met Kit Chan. I regret not telling her how much I admire her singing.

And there was good food at the reception during the interval! It was so good that everyone felt so disappointed when we were ushered back into the theatre by the eager student ushers. The sauteed salmon slices and the foie gras was excellent!

Spent most of my day in the Sci Lib. No choice, exams coming up.

My short film project, Marbles

One more week before we have to hand in our project. It's strange how a Life Sciences undergrad is more interested in making a film than researching in a Lab.

Xinjie, Joe, me and Ram.
We're sitted on these sofas along the corridors of a one room flat block.
Joan's not around because she's got class...
I've got class too... haha. But I skipped. (nothing new)

I like the colour gradient in this picture of myself. Interesting foreground too, which is actually the door grille.

My favourite picture taken that day which is personally my favourite because it reminds of ChungKing Express' Lin Ching Hsia.

Brooding Ram.

Scenes of our shoots.

Joan handling the cam at a high altitude in my sister's room.

Joe and I fooling around

Interesting shot of an old man smoking.
